Virtual exhibition: Women in early poster design

The German Digital Library presents a virtual exhibition from the Kunstbibliothek, Staatliche Museum zu Berlin with the title “Transfigured, desired forgotten – women in early poster design”. The compilation of posters from the turn of the century traces the emancipatory changes in both the image of women and their social roles during this era. The exhibition concludes with portraits of female poster designers who earned money with their art despite much social resistance and many hurdles, but have almost been forgotten today.
